- Economist Gregory Mankiw has an excellent column in the New York Times: “Economists Actually Agree on This: The Wisdom of Free Trade.”
- Former state senator Rodney Tom has an op-ed in the Seattle Times about the state budget: “It was easy to make a case for fiscal responsibility when the state was in desperate financial shape. The real challenge comes at times like today.” (Via Opportunity Washington.)
- The attorney general has responded to the state Supreme Court’s contempt order in the McCleary case. He argues that the Supreme Court should wait until after the special session to consider whether to impose sanctions on the Legislature for noncompliance. The memorandum also includes a good overview of the education spending the Legislature is considering.
