I’ve updated our table of federal COVID relief that has been allocated for Washington’s governments, businesses, and individuals. The relief now totals $93.6 billion. Of that, $67.3 billion has gone or will go to businesses and individuals and $26.3 billion is flowing through our state and local governments.

This funding will be spent over several years. That said, for context, state and local governments in Washington spent $82.2 billion in 2019 (on direct general expenditures).

The table below is just a summary; click on it for a spreadsheet with a more complete table and many more details. Some notable updates:

  • According to the Small Business Administration, 3,247 restaurants in Washington received a total of $921.3 million from the restaurant revitalization fund (part of the American Rescue Plan Act).
  • The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates that Washington families will receive $2.4 billion from the child tax credit expansion.
  • I’ve added grants for airports, by airport and federal act. Airports in Washington have received $591.7 million in total. Of that, $410.6 million went to Sea-Tac.
  • The U.S. Department of Education revised Washington’s allocation from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III fund upwards, and OSPI has provided revised district allocations.

Note that state allocations have not yet been announced for all relief programs.
