Just $4.2 million remain of the state funds appropriated for COVID-19 response in EHB 2965. Yesterday the Office of Financial Management announced that $5.0 million will go to the Department of Commerce for distribution to the 29 federally recognized tribes in Washington. Each tribe will get at least $100,000. (The tribes previously received another $5.0 million of the EHB 2965 funds.)
Additionally, the Department of Commerce has announced that the first Working Washington small business relief grants have been awarded. These grants were announced in April, and later $5 million of the EHB 2965 funds were allocated to the program (in addition to $5 million from the governor’s strategic reserve account).
According to Commerce, the grant awards range from $566 to $10,000 and have helped more than 500 businesses in 20 counties retain 1,874 jobs. The total awarded in this round was $3.7 million.
