Value of agricultural production in Washington dropped to $9.7 billion in 2018

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Washington’s value of agricultural production dropped from $9.856 billion in 2017 (as revised) to $9.673 billion in 2018. The first chart below shows the top five commodities by value. Apples are still number one (and represent 22.6 percent of total agricultural value in Washington), but their value dropped by 10.1 percent over 2017. Wheat, which is Washington’s third-highest value commodity, increased in value by 22.2 percent over 2017.

The second chart shows the next six commodities by value. Eggs knocked pears out of the top ten in 2018.
