The Caseload Forecast Council met this morning. Although the news generally was mixed-to-positive, the bottom line effect was bad news: Increased medical utilization costs added $301 million to maintenance-level costs. Here’s the worksheet for the two bienniashowing the detail.

And here’s the Seattle Times report pegging the shortfall now at about $1.3 billion before making the additional $900 million – $1.4 billion down payment for additional court-ordered education funding. And without knowing just how far down we’ll be in the 3/20 revenue forecast.

While not exactly must-see TV, the CFC meeting is useful. OFM director David Schumacher’s summary of the budget impact comes at the the 58th minute: “The net impact to the budget … is about $301 million of bad news today.”
