There are no surprises in yesterday’s Washington Healthplanfinder enrollment report. Enrollments in qualified (private) health plans (QHP) dropped significantly since the last report, but that’s to be expected given that Dec. 23 was the deadline to buy coverage beginning Jan. 1.

Between Oct. 1 and Jan. 2, a total of 71,205 individuals enrolled in a QHP and 177,065 newly enrolled in Medicaid.

Since the last report, 34,511 have newly enrolled. Of those enrollments, qualified health plans accounted for 16.6 percent, newly eligible Medicaid accounted for 59.3 percent, and immediate coverage Medicaid accounted for 24.1 percent.
