June employment report shows the state added 3,900 jobs May to June

The state Employment Security Department issued its employment report for June this morning. The preliminary estimate is that seasonally adjusted employment in Washington increased by 3,900 from May to June. The estimate of April to May job growth was revised down to a gain of 7,200 jobs from the gain of  7,700 jobs previously announced.

The preliminary estimate of June’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the state is 5.3 percent. The estimate of May’s unemployment rate is unchanged at 5.4 percent.

It’s estimated that 900 jobs were added in the Seattle metro area (King and Snohomish counties), while 3,000 jobs were added in the balance of the state.  Here is a chart showing employment in the two regions since 2008:
